Beyond the Focus
a choice containing a statement that is too broad, too narrow, or beyond the scope of the stimulus
Irrelevant
a choice that uses info in a way irrelevant to the author’s argument or statements
Extreme
a choice containing language too emphatic to be supported by the stimulus; are often (though not always) characterized by words such as all, never, every, or none
Distortion
a choice that mentions details from the stimulus but mangles or misstates what the author says or implies about those details
Opposite
a choice that directly contradicts what the correct answer must say (eg. a choice that strengthens the argument in a Weaker question)
Wrong Use of Details
a choice that accurately states something from the stimulus but in a manner that answers the question incorrectly; rarely used in LR
Partial
a partially correct choice but also contains an incorrect piece that could by any of the above
