History of the National Exchange Club
Founded as a nonprofit in Detroit, Michigan in 1911, and expanded to Toledo, Ohio, Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Cleveland Ohio by Charles A. Berkey and other businessmen to improve their community.
America’s oldest service organization solely within USA with 18,000 members.

In 1979, the National Exchange Club established their national project for the prevention of child abuse.
Used the scholarly-reviewed Exchange Parent Aide home visitation model, where experts meet with at-risk families.
Earned the Presidential Award from the White House Office of Private Sector Initiatives
Works with the National Child Abuse Coalition and a Partner in Prevention with the Children’s Bureau, Administration for Child and Families, and the HHS (US Dep. of Health and Human Services)

The President’s Volunteer Service Award was established in 2003 by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation to honor outstanding volunteers who positively impact the nation’s communities.
Since then, it has been led by the AmeriCorps and managed with Points of Light
