We’ve seen students host walks for water

This is Hershey High School in Hershey, PA, the home of chocolate, who have been supporting us for years! On world water day (march 22nd) this year, Hershey raised $24,000 and fully funded two water projects!

They sell tickets, they sell t-shirts, they get sponsorships from local businesses, they get pledges from friends and family for each mile they walk, but the important part is that they’re having a blast while saving lives.

We also see students organize their own galas for clean water.

Do we have any athletes here? There are so many ways to use sports to end the water crisis. We’ve seen basketball tournaments for clean water, volleyball tournaments for clean water, we’ve seen football teams get their parents to donate for each touchdown they score…

We’ve even seen swimming and diving teams swim that 3.75 miles instead of walking it in order to fund a well!

Do we have any talented people here? Any singers, dancers, anybody involved in theater? We’ve talent shows for clean water, plays for clean water, musical acts for clean water…

There’s even a whole movement of show choirs and other performing arts groups that do fundraisers for Thirst Project every single year!

Does anybody here like food, by chance! Amazing! There are so many ways to use the power of good food to get the ball rolling at your school and in your community. Students do bake sales, proceeds nights…

We’ve seen student groups raise money online by simply making a fundraising page on our website and sending it to friends and family, asking them to help give a community in need clean water for life.

One of my personal favorites is when students give up their birthdays in the clean water and tell their family and friends, “hey, instead of getting me more presents for my birthday, let’s give people clean water for life!”

There are so many other ways to take action that we can’t get into or the sake of time (but please ask about any of these that stick out to you during Q&A), but that’s the beauty of Thirst Project! Not only have we seen a million and one ways that students have taken action for Thirst Project, we know that you guys are capable of thinking of doing something that we have never even seen before.

We are a movement of young people using our hobbies, interests, and passions to change the world. The most effective thing that you can do to end the global water crisis is something that you (and your friends) will have fun organizing, and that your school and community will have the most fun participating in, which is pretty awesome.
