New Testament

It is the continuation  & realization of the prophecies foretold in the Old Testament.

Disciple

A learner or a follower, particularly one who follows Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ

He was the Word who became flesh & dwelt among us to save His people from eternal damnation

Kingdom of God

It is the reign or rule of God over His creation.

Bible

It is the source book of our knowledge of God; the textbook of   divine truth & the guide book to everlasting life.

samaritans

People of mixed   blood born of the intermarriage between the   Israelites and the Canaanites or the  Assyrians.

Messianic hope

It was the belief that God would triumph over evil and bring to completion his purposes, either by  direct action or through an agent, the Messiah – “God’s anointed One.

The remnants of the Chosen People of God.

apostle

It comes from the Greek word “apostello” which means “to be sent out.

Rabbi

An ordained teacher of the Jewish Law.

Commissioning

It is the act of committing or giving in charge; authority granted for a particular action or function.

John the Baptist

The forerunner of Jesus who prepared the hearts of the Jews with the coming of the Kingdom of God.

Consecrate

To set apart or dedicate as holy.

Sabbath day

It is a day of rest, meditating upon the Word of God

As we accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, we repent from our sins and become a new  being as we transform and go away from our wickedness.

The implication or significance of water baptism to us

For Him to grow up and develop His freedom to choose between good and evil.

     To prove Himself of His complete obedience to His Father.

The reasons why Jesus needed to be tempted

For us to have the opportunity to grow.  As we slip and fall, we can learn from our mistakes/failures.

Why we need to be tempted and given trials or tormentors

1. Exodus 20:12 – Honor your father and your mother, that your days maybe long in the earth.

 

2. Ephesians 6:1—3 – Children obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.  Honor your father and mother, that it may be well with you and that you may live long on the earth.

 

3. Colossians 3:20 – Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.

The verses that tells us to honor and obey our parents

1. John 3:16  -- For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

 

2. John 1:12 – But to all who received Him, who believed in His name, He gave power to become children of God.

 

3. 1 John 3:23 – And this is His commandment, that we should believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as He has commanded us.
