Old Major
The prize middle white boar. A respected, knowledgeable, and kind-hearted pig who called a meeting to share his dream with the other animals. Animals respected him enough to loose sleep just to listen.
Boxer
A strong cart horse known for his physical strength and work ethic, well-respected on the farm.
Clover
A middle-aged cart horse with many foals, caring and nurturing towards other animals. Never got her figure back after the fourth foal
Benjamin
The eldest animal on the farm, a cynical and serious donkey who is loyal to Boxer. Didn’t talk much and when he did it was cynical he didn’t laugh because there was nothing to laugh about and he would meet with boxer but they never spoke
Mollie
A pretty female white horse with an impressive mane, more concerned with her appearance than the rebellion. Loves ribbon in her hair a coincided very flirty
"Beasts of England"
A song symbolizing the animals' fight for freedom and inspiration to overthrow their owners.
Snowball
An energetic and imaginative pig who played a key role in the rebellion and was a proponent of building the windmill. Wasn’t considered to have the same depth of character as Napoleon
Napoleon
A large, narrow-minded Berkshire pig who eventually gains control of the farm. Doesn’t talk too much had a reputation of getting his way
Squealer
A persuasive piglet with a squeaky voice who justifies the pigs' actions to the other animals. Very round cheeks, twinkling eyes shrill movements
Moses
A tame raven known for telling tales mr. Jones especial pet knew that the animals went to an after life called sugar candy mountain
The Seven Commandments
The Seven Commandments were “ Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy. Whatever goes upon four legs, or has wings, is a friend. No animal shall wear clothes. No animal shall sleep in a bed. No animal shall drink alcohol. No animal shall kill any other animal. All animals are equal.” Squealer had written all of them.
The Battle of the Cowshed
A conflict where the animals successfully defended the farm against Mr. Jones and his men.
Napoleon's takeover
He used dogs to chase Snowball away, consolidating his power over the other animals.
Boxer's maxims
"Napoleon is always right" and "I will work harder," reflecting his loyalty and work ethic.
Windmill
Initially opposed by Napoleon, he later claimed it was his idea to gain favor with the animals.
Animal executions
Napoleon executed animals who confessed to disloyalty, instilling fear among the others.
"Beasts of England" ban
The song was banned as the animals were told they no longer needed it since they had their own society.
Pigs' privileges
Pigs received special treatment, including the right to walk on paths and enjoy beer.
Boxer's fate
Boxer was sent to a hospital after a fall but ultimately died, symbolizing the betrayal of the working class.
Final commandment
"ALL ANIMALS ARE EQUAL BUT SOME ARE MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS," reflecting the corruption of the original ideals.
