Concentration Gradient
A concentration gradient is the difference in the concentration of a substance between two areas, where particles move from high to low concentration.
Diffusion
Diffusion is the process where particles move from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration, naturally spreading out until they are evenly distributed.
Passive Transport
Passive transport is the movement of substances across a cell membrane without energy, moving from high to low concentration. Examples include diffusion and osmosis.
Active Transport
Active transport is the movement of substances across a cell membrane using energy (ATP), moving from low to high concentration, against the concentration gradient.
