Argument
A series of claims (premises) that lead to a conclusion.
Premises
The claims that provide support for the conclusion in an argument.
Conclusion
The final claim that the premises are intended to establish.
Evidence
Information or data that supports a claim within an argument.
Logical connection
The reasoning that links premises to the conclusion.
Valid
An argument is valid if the conclusion cannot be false whenever all the premises are true.
True premises
Premises that are actually true; a requirement for a sound argument.
Soundness
A property of an argument that is valid and has all true premises.
Objection
A challenge to an argument, showing it is not sound by proving it’s not valid or by showing a premise is false.
