Segregation
The systematic separation of people, usually based on race, leading to unequal access to resources and opportunities.
Jim Crow laws
State and local laws enacted in the United States that enforced racial segregation in the Southern states.
Color bar
A system of racial segregation that excludes individuals from jobs or communities based on their skin color.
Residential segregation
The practice of dividing urban areas into sections reserved for different races or ethnic groups.

The belief that white people are superior to those of all other races and therefore should dominate society.
Colonial segregation
The separation of populations based on race or ethnicity that was implemented during colonial rule.

The process through which cities are divided along racial lines, affecting political, social, and economic systems.
