Geography
An integrative discipline that brings together the physical and human dimensions of the world in the study of people, places, and environments.
Physical geography
The study of natural processes and the distribution of features in the environment, such as landforms, plants, animals, and climate.
Human geography
The study of the events and processes that have shaped how humans understand, use, and alter Earth.
Processes
Continuous actions taking place over time that shape Earth's surface.
Spatial perspective
A point of view that refers to where something occurs, focusing on the spatial aspects of where things are located and why they are located there.
Ecological perspective
A point of view that refers to the interactive and interdependent relationships among living things, ecosystems, and human societies.
Three Essential Questions of Geography
The questions 'Where?', 'Why there?', and 'Why care?' used by geographers to analyze location, the reasons behind spatial processes, and the importance of their inquiries.
