**Introduction** – Even before the coming of the Spaniards, those before us created a body of literature. They have rituals and traditions similar to those seen in other parts of the world. They have their own writing system, alphabet, and other aspects of a working body of literature.

* Our ancient literature depicts our customs and practices in everyday life through folk tales, historic plays, and short novels.
