Rule of Law
Emphasizes a system of laws (10 Commandments) that applies to everyone, including leaders, promoting fairness and justice
Moral Responsibility
Individuals are seen as morally responsible for their actions, which supports the idea of personal accountability in a democratic society
Equality
Jews believe that everyone is created in the image of God and therefore everyone should be treated with dignity & respect
Community Participation
Judaism emphasized that the community, not just leaders, had a duty to uphold justice, care for the poor, and live by God’s law.
This created a sense that everyone had a role in the moral and social health of the community
Justice & Compassion
Giving to those in need is not just kindness but an obligation. Supporting the poor, widows, orphans, and strangers is central in Jewish law.
The Hebrew prophets spoke out against oppression and injustice, urging society to protect the vulnerable and live ethically
Judaism & the Covenant
Jews believe that God made a pact with his people that if they obeyed him then he would lead them out of bondage into the Promised Land. They would become his “chosen people”
