Conative Needs
A category of need that refers to having a strive or motivational character; deficiency needs included
Aesthetic Needs
A category of need that is included in the being needs; need for beauty and pleasing experiences
Cognitive Needs
A category of need included in the being needs; desire to know, solve mysteries, understand, and be curious. Necessary to satisfy conative needs
Neurotic Needs
A category of need that is nonproductive and leads to stagnation and pathology; reactive (compensation for unsatisfied basic needs)
Physiological
A type of need that is basic and prepotent. The only need that can be completely or overly satisfied; recurring in nature
Safety
A type of need that refers to the need for physical security, stability, dependency, protection, and freedom from threats. Unimportant for adults and a high need for children
Love & Belongingness
A type of need that refers to the need to belong to a group. If satisfied, they do not panic when denied love. If never experiences, they may be incapable of giving love. If small doses are received, they are motivated to seek for it
Esteem
A type of need that refers to the desire for respect from the send and others
Reputation
A level of esteem that refers to the perception of the prestige, recognition, or fame of a person has achieved in the eyes of othersS
Self-esteem
A level of esteem that refers to the desire for strength, achievement, adequacy, mastery, and competence. Confidence in the face of the world
Self-Actualization
A type of need that refers to self-fulfillment, realization of all one’s potential, and a desire to become creative in the full sense
