Basic Empty Weight (BEW)
Airframe, engines, fixed equipment, full operating fluids (oil, hydraulic), and unusable fuel.
Useful Load
Weight of crew, cargo, passengers, baggage, and usable fuel.
Zero Fuel Weight
Operational weight with payload but without fuel load.
Ramp Weight
Weight of the airplane loaded for flight before engine start (includes taxi fuel).
Take-off Weight
Weight just before brake release to begin the takeoff roll.
Arm
Horizontal distance from the reference datum line to the center of gravity of an item.
Moment
Product of the weight of an object multiplied by its arm.
Moment Index
Moment divided by a constant (100, 1000, 10000) to simplify calculations.
Fuselage Station
Reference line along the x-axis (longitudinal) of the aircraft.
Buttock Line
Reference line along the y-axis (lateral) of the aircraft.
Water Line
Reference line along the z-axis (vertical) of the aircraft.
