process of learning behaviors by watching others (ex: children copying what adults/family members do)

Latent Learning

knowledge that is gained subconsciously and only becomes clear when a person has an incentive to display it

an example of latent learning- an organism forms a mental map
of a location after constantly being exposed to the location

Over justification Effect

offering reinforcement after a task is already being performed, or intrinsically likes to be performed could result in the task no longer being performed for the established personal reasons, but now rather solely for the reinforcement- extrinsic reasons

Instinctive Drift

animals have a tendency to drift back to their original behaviors even after being reinforced

Insight Learning

people or an animal recognize relationships (make associations w/ objects or actions) that can help solve new problems; eureka/aha moment
