Epithelial rule

Contains only 1 cell type, dont contain blood vessel

Stratified squamous

Stack on top one another, skin, stomach

Cuboidal epithelia

Roughly box shape, stronger than simple squamous, found in glands, thyroid

Columnar epithelia

Thick cell, bulk diffusion, takes in lots of contents, intestine

Simple squamous

Low friction, found in eye, gas, lungs

Glands

Folded epithelia secretion, sweat gland

Exocrine gland

Pass through epithelium to outside surface

Endocrine gland

Puts things into blood

Merocrine secretion

Release product, slowest

Apocrine secretion

Faster, release their own cytoplasm

Holocrine secretion

Destroy secretory cell
