SECTION 1 -- LICENSE AND REQUIREMENTS

Learner Permit Requirements

A.Learner permits are available to persons age 18 or older.

B.The permit holder is authorized to drive a specific type or class of motor vehicle while in possession of the permit.

C.The permit holder must be accompanied by a person who is licensed to drive the motor vehicle being driven and seated beside the permit holder.

D.Required testing - Vision; Traffic signs; Knowledge of motor vehicle laws.

Motorcycle Learners Permit

A. Applicant is at least 16 years of age but less than 18 years old, the applicant must posses a full provisional license issued by the DMV. Parent or Guardian signature is required.

B. Applicant is 18 years old or older they must posses a license issued by the DMV.

C. The motorcycle learners permit allows the holder to operate a motorcycle without passengers.

D. The permit is valid for 18 months.

E. Required testing- Vision; Traffic signs; and Motorcycle knowledge test.

12 points in 3 years ; suspended license

after suspension ; 8 points in 3 years = second suspension

Suspension by points system penalties

1st time = 60 days

2nd time = 6 months

3rd time = 1 year
