Os Coxae
The hip bone that forms the pelvic girdle, composed of the ilium, ischium, and pubis.
Ilium
The superior, fan-shaped part of the os coxae.
Ischium
The posterior, lower part of the os coxae.
Pubis
The anterior, lower part of the os coxae.
Acetabulum
The cup-like socket for the femur formed by the fusion of ilium, ischium, and pubis.
Iliac Crest
The upper ridge of the ilium important for muscle attachment.
Anterior Superior Iliac Spine (ASIS)
A bony projection at the front of the ilium for attachment of the inguinal ligament and sartorius muscle.
Ischial Spine
A small pointed projection on the ischium that separates the greater and lesser sciatic notches.
Ischial Tuberosity
A roughened area on the ischium where the hamstring muscles attach, also known as the 'sit bones'.
Pubic Symphysis
The cartilaginous joint where the left and right os coxae meet at the pubic body.
Greater Sciatic Notch
A passageway for the sciatic nerve located on the ilium.
Obturator Foramen
A large hole formed by the pubis and ischium, covered by the obturator membrane.
Lunate Surface
The smooth, articular part of the acetabulum where the femur fits.
Acetabular Notch
An incomplete inferior section of the rim of the acetabulum.
Pubic Tubercle
A small bump on the pubis where the inguinal ligament attaches.
