Positive Transfer of Learning
Positive Transfer of Leaning is where a skill or strategy developed in one sport enhances the performance of a skill in another sport
Negative Transfer of Learning
Negative Transfer of Learning is where a skill developed in one sport hinders the performance of a skill in another sport.
Zero Transfer of Learning
Zero Transfer of Learning is where a skill in one sport has no impact on the learning of a new skill in another sport.
Transfer of Learning
Transfer of Learning is the influence of a person's previous experience from one setting/skill/practice drill to another situation/skill/competition.
Intervention
The Intervention Phase involves providing feedback and corrections to the performer to improve performance
Shaping
Shaping is learning a simplified or incomplete version of the skill and adding the missing parts as the skill is developed
Chaining
Chaining is the breaking down into parts of a complex skill or activity and teaching the skill part by part
Static and Dynamic
Static to Dynamic is the process of beginning to practice the skill from a stationary position and progressing to performing the skill while moving or performing additional tasks
Group Cohesion
Group Cohesion - Group cohesion is a term used to describe the extent to which a group stays together and united in the pursuit of common goals and objectives
Task cohesion
The degree to which members of a team work together to achieve success/common goals
Social cohesion
The interpersonal connection between members of a team that allows them to interact positively
Goal Setting
Is the process of deciding on something you want to achieve, planning the steps to follow that will help reach that goal, then working towards achieving that goal
Relaxation
An activity undertaken to reduce tension and the effects of physical and mental stress
Imagery
Visualising or imagining the sight, sounds and feelings associated with the performance of a skill
Performance Routines
A ritual or sequence of thoughts and actions that a performer follows prior to the execution of a skill
Self-Talk
Talking to / thinking to yourself positively before, during or after performance
