Prescribed alcohol limit
Two beers or 35 microgrammes of alcohol.
First-time drink-driving penalty
A fine of 7,500.00.
Second-time drink-driving penalty
Loss of license for a period of 12 months.

Permanent disqualification from driving.
Certifying Officer's role

Non-resident driving period
Allows driving for 60 days after entry into Guyana with a valid license from their country of residence.
Traffic light arrangement
Lights are vertical, with red at the top, amber in the middle, and green at the bottom.
Stop line dimensions
A yellow or white line transversely on the road surface with a width of 5 inches.
Amber light significance
Prohibits proceeding beyond the stop line unless the vehicle is so close it cannot safely stop.
Flashing amber light significance
Indicates that vehicular traffic can proceed beyond the stop line with caution.
Flashing red light significance
Indicates traffic must halt at the stop line and proceed only when safe to do so.
Pedestrian signal colors
Red and green lights only, using the words "DON'T WALK" and "WALK".
Continuous yellow line
Indicates that overtaking a moving vehicle or stopping along that length of road is prohibited.
Preventable collision
A collision in which the driver fails to do everything reasonable to prevent it.
