George Clemenceau
Leader of France during the negotiations. His aims were for Germany to lose military power, pay reparations, return land (such as Alsace Lorraine), and have no troops in the Rhineland.
Lloyd George
Leader of Britain during the negotiations. His aims were to assign blame for the war, avoid being too harsh on Germany, prevent Germany from becoming too powerful, and rebuild Germany's economy for trade.
Woodrow Wilson
Leader of the USA during the negotiations. His aims were idealistic, including the creation of the League of Nations, self-determination for national groups, and avoiding overly harsh punishment for Germany.
Guilt
Germany had to accept guilt for starting the war.
Armed forces
Germany's military was limited to 100,000 soldiers, 36 battleships, and no conscription. They were also not allowed to have tanks, aircraft, or submarines.
Reparations
Germany was required to pay £6.6 billion in reparations.
German territory
Germany had to give up Alsace Lorraine, and their colonies were to be administered by the League of Nations. The Rhineland was to be demilitarized, and the Saarland was to be run by the League for 15 years.

An international organization created to promote peace and prevent future wars.
