Biopsy
The excision of living tissue for examination.
Cautery
The use of a machine or method used to destroy tissue by electricity, freezing, or chemicals (cauterization).
Debridement
The removal of dead or foreign tissue from a wound.
Dermabrasion
The scraping of surface layers of skin to remove scars or wrinkles.
Dermatome
An instrument used for cutting thin sections of skin for grafts.
Electrodessication
The destruction and drying out of cells and tissues with short, high-frequency sparks of electricity.
Escharotomy
The removal of tissue and underlying tissue caused by burns. These scabs restrict blood flow, especially in tight, swollen limb bands of scabs and scar tissue.
Fulguration
A type of electro/desiccation that destroys tissue with long, high-frequency electric sparks
