Leadership
The act of influencing others toward a goal.
Formal leaders
Those who hold a position of authority and utilize their power to influence others.
Informal leaders
Individuals without formal authority but influence others through personal power.
Task-oriented behaviors
Directive actions given to employees to ensure organizational goals are met.
People-oriented behaviors
Actions demonstrating concern for employee feelings and respect.
Autocratic decision making
Decision-making style where leaders make decisions alone without employee involvement.
Democratic decision making
Decision-making style that involves employees in the decision process.
Laissez-faire decision making
Decision-making style where employees are left to make decisions on their own.
Situational leadership
Leadership style that varies according to situational factors such as employee readiness.
Transformational Leadership
A leadership style that inspires and motivates followers to innovate and create change.
Leader-Member Exchange (LMX)
The quality of the trust-based relationship between a leader and a follower.
Servant Leadership
