Valley
A low area of land between hills or mountains.
Plateau
A flat, elevated landform that rises sharply above surrounding area on at least one side.
Plain
A large flat area of land.
Island
A piece of land surrounded by water on all sides.
Peninsula
A piece of land surrounded by water on three sides.
Ocean
A large body of water.
Lake
A large body of freshwater surrounded by land.
Physical Feature
A natural feature of the Earth's surface, categorized as either a landform or a body of water.
Continental Divide
A physical landform feature extending through regions including Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, and Mexico.
Great Plains
A major physical feature consisting of a vast flat land region spanning across the central USA and Canada.
Gulf of Mexico
A large body of water bordered by Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Georgia, Cuba, and Mexico.
Great Lakes
A major system of large water bodies including Lake Superior and Lake Huron, situated between the USA and Canada.
Mississippi River
A large river physical feature in the United States passing through states such as Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Louisiana.
