what advances in medical knowledge were made in the Early modern period
The renaissance period led to invention of the printing press and new scientific inventions such as the thermometer and microscope which helped medical observations.

the dissolution of the monasteries was in the 1530’s meaning that voluntary charities had to take over hospitals which where sometimes endowed with royal funds to care for the sick and poor

more hospitals were needed meaning wealthy private individuals endowed hospitals using their wealth o better the lives of the poor

What was an attempt to prevent illness in the Early modern period?
Quarantine houses were continued and were used against the great plague. Infected households were also quarantined until death. Things like wood were burnt on the street to try ward of miasma.

It was now the publics responsibility to sweep the dirt around their homes into a pile

The great fire of London lead to changes in how buildings where made to prevent further destruction. this made streets wider and the quality of housing better meaning living conditions automatically improved
