September 11/World Trade Center/Pentagon
International terrorist group Al-Queda, led by Osama Bin Laden, attacked the US in NYC and Washington DC. The WTC in NYC was destroyed and the Pentagon building was severely damaged.
Iraq
in 2003, US invaded Iraw overthrowing and capturing their leader, Saddam Hussien. Bush stated that the war in Iraq was necessary in order to prevent Hussein fro using WMD against US or allies.
Afghanistan
In response to 9/11 attacks, US invades Afghanistan which had been providing shelter for Osama Bin Lade and al-Queda. We defeated the Afghan government and eventually kill Bin Laden under Obama.

expands the ability of the government to investigate suspected terrorists…but it is criticized for limiting the rights of all.
