Integumentary System

Cells in the skin that produce melanin, which absorbs UV radiation and protects DNA.
Melanin
A pigment that gives color to the skin and absorbs ultraviolet radiation.

Glands that play a role in regulating body temperature through the secretion of sweat.
Basal cell carcinoma
A type of skin cancer that originates from the stratum basale layer of the epidermis.
Squamous cell carcinoma
A type of skin cancer that originates from keratinocytes.
