Organizational Culture
A pattern of shared basic assumptions developed by a group as it learns to cope with its problems of adaptation and integration.
Power Distance
The extent to which less powerful members of a society defer to more powerful members.
Individualism
The extent to which individuals prioritize personal goals over group goals; valuing autonomy and self-reliance.
Collectivism
The extent to which group goals and cooperation are valued over individual interests.
Masculinity-femininity Orientation
The degree to which stereotypical masculine or feminine attributes are valued in a culture.
Uncertainty Avoidance
The extent to which members of a culture feel uncomfortable with uncertainty and ambiguity.
Long-term vs Short-term Orientation
The degree to which a culture prioritizes long-term traditions and values versus immediate results and gratification.
Indulgence-restraint Orientation
The extent to which a culture promotes the gratification of basic human desires related to enjoying life.
Organizational Climate
The shared meaning of what and how things are done within an organization.
Socialization
The process by which individuals learn and adapt to the norms, customs, and behaviors of their society.
Person-organization Fit
The alignment between an employee's values and goals and those of the organization.
Downsizing
The process of reducing the workforce in an organization to cut costs.
Outsourcing
The practice of contracting out functions and operations that are typically performed by in-house employees.
Mergers and Acquisitions
Business processes in which two companies combine (merger) or one company purchases another (acquisition).
