Water storage
storage of potable and non potable water
water tank
storing of water for different applications

Cistern
underground water tank

On grade tank
water tank build on grade taking up space

Elevated tank
a water tank suspended on an elevation wherein gravity is used to push water down
water supply system
the system of pipes from water services, water distribution and connecting pipes
water distribution pipe
a pipe within the structure or premises which conveys water from the water service pipe
water service pipe
connectes the water distribution pipe from the main water pipe into the building
building supply pipe
first section of piping
Upfeed system
water comes from the bottom and is pumped and distributed upwards to the upper stories
downfeed system
water comes from the uppermost part of the building through a tank and uses gravity to distribute water downwards to each floor
valve
a device used to control the flow, pressure, amount of liquid through a piping system

gate valve
valves that uses a disc through a gate like wedge disc

globe valve
compression type valve by means of a circular disc

check valve
valve that permits the flow of water within the pipe in one direction and closes on the other

ball valve
valve controlled by a rotating drilled ball that fits tightly against the body

angle valve
a type of globe valve where the inlet and outlet openings are perpendicular to each other

butterfly valve
a valve within a rotating disc that fits inside the valve body

backwater valve
a type of check valve installed to prevent backflow of sewage

Disk-Type Water Meter
Used for measuring the flow of water through small water services; also called displacement meters.

Compound Meter
Used in buildings where water is used in large, constant volumes.

Turbine Meter
A meter that unites a disk and turbine meter in one body.
water pump
a pumbling equipment that converts electrical energy into hydraulic energy to handle water in a system of pipes

centrifugal pump
dynamic mechanical device that transports fluids by converting rotational kinetic energy

turbine pump
move large volumes of fluid from deep wells, open water bodies, or industrial sumps

jet (ejector) pump
a centrifugal pump that uses a venturi tube to pull and pressurize water from wells or tanks

Submersible Pump
pump used for flooded areas to pump out water

Reciprocating Pump
A positive displacement pump having a plunger that moves back and forth within a cylinder equipped with check valves.

Piston Pump
uses a reciprocating piston and cylinder to move and pressurize fluids

Diaphragm Pump
uses a flexible diaphragm and non-return check valves to move fluids

Rotary Pump
uses a helical or spiral rotor to trap water and force water to the upper end of the rotor
