American Revolution
A period of colonial revolt against British rule that culminated in the Declaration of Independence in 1776.
American War for Independence
The military conflict between the Thirteen American Colonies and Great Britain from 1775 to 1783.
Boston Tea Party
A political protest by the Sons of Liberty in 1773 where colonists dumped tea into Boston Harbor to oppose British taxation.
Stamp Act
A law passed in 1765 requiring all printed materials in the colonies to carry a tax stamp.
Intolerable Acts
A series of punitive laws passed by the British Parliament in 1774 meant to punish the Massachusetts colonists for the Boston Tea Party.
