Chloroplasts
The organelles found in plant cet and some protists responsible for producing chemical energy from light energy through photosynthesis.
Outer membrane
One of the three membranes of a chloroplast, containing phospholipids and proteins.
Inner membrane
A chloroplast membrane composed of phospholipids and proteins.
Thylakoid membrane
The third membrane of the chloroplast which contains phospholipids, proteins, and chlorophyll, and is the site of the light reaction.
Chlorophyll
A component found specifically within the thylakoid membrane of the chloroplast.
Light reaction
An activity of photosynthesis that takes place within the thylakoid membrane of the chloroplast.
