According to Christianity, what is The Gospel? Explain it.
In Christianity, The Gospel—from the Greek euangelion, meaning “good news”—refers to the message of salvation through Jesus Christ. At its heart, the Gospel proclaims that:
Humanity is estranged from God due to sin.
Jesus, the Son of God, entered history, lived a sinless life, and willingly died on the cross to atone for human sin.
He rose from the dead, conquering death and offering eternal life to all who believe in him.
Through faith in Christ, not by works, people are reconciled to God and receive forgiveness, grace, and the promise of resurrection.
According to Christianity, who is Jesus Christ and what is his role in the story of God and people?
In Christianity, Jesus Christ is understood to be both fully divine and fully human—the Son of God and the Messiah foretold in the Hebrew Scriptures. He is the central figure in the story of God and humanity, sent to reconcile people to God through his life, death, and resurrection.
What is the Trinity? Who are the members? What are their roles?
| God the Father | Creator and sustainer of all things. He initiates salvation history, sends the Son, and is often associated with divine authority and providence. |
| God the Son (Jesus Christ) | The incarnate Word of God. He becomes human, lives a sinless life, dies for humanity’s sins, and rises again. He reveals the Father and redeems creation. |
| God the Holy Spirit | The active presence of God in the world and in believers. He empowers, guides, convicts, comforts, and sanctifies. He was sent after Jesus’s ascension to dwell within the Church. |
What is the Euthyphro Dilemma? Articulate one way Christians try to overcome it.
Is something good because God commands it, or does God command it because it is good?”
God commands what is good because God’s very nature is good.
In this view:
Goodness is not external to God, nor is it arbitrary.
Instead, God’s nature is the standard of goodness—eternal, unchanging, and perfectly just.
God’s commands flow from who He is: loving, holy, and wise.
