What is signal detection theory?

It explains how we decide whether a stimulus/signal is present, especially when there is uncertainty or noise.

Signal there + YES = HIT

Signal there + NO = MISS

Signal absent + NO = CORRECT REJECTION

Signal absent + YES = FALSE ALARM
