How is carbon dioxide removed from the air?
Carbon dioxide is removed from the air in photosynthesis by green plants and algae – they use the carbon to make carbohydrates, protein and fats. They are eaten and the carbon moves up the food chain
How is carbon dioxide returned into the air part 1
Carbon dioxide is returned to the air when plants algae and animals respire.
Decomposers (A group of microorganisms that break down dead organisms and waste) Respire while they return mineral ions into the soil
How is carbon dioxide returned into the part two
Carbon dioxide is returned into the air when wood and fossils are burnt (during combustion) As they contain carbon from photosynthesis
The carbon cycle is a repeating process
