Transversal
A line that intersects two other lines.
Alternate interior angles
Two angles on opposite sides of the transversal, that are both between the two lines being intersected.
Alternate exterior angles
Two angles on opposite sides of the transversal, neither of which are between the two lines being intersected.
Consecutive interior angles
Two angles on the same side of the transversal, that are both between the two lines being intersected.
Consecutive exterior angles
Two angles on the same side of the transversal, neither of which are between the two lines being intersected.
Corresponding angles
Two angles in the same relative position in the transversal.
Vertical angles
Two equal angles across from each other, like the top and bottom of an X.
Linear pair
Two angles that are next to each other and sum to 180 degrees, like the top and side of an X.
Supplementary
Same as “sum to 180 degrees.”
