The Israeli independence day / Nakba (the disaster).

Suez Crisis

Egypt closes the Suez canal, and the straits of Tiran (located between the Sinai and Arabian Peninsula). The French, British and Israeli invade Egypt (the Europeans mad because the Egyptians nationalized the Suez. The Soviets say they will nuke Europe if they don’t retreat. US and UN also advocate for peace (US mad the Europeans didn’t inform them of the invasion). Then, a peace treaty is signed and WWIII is prevented.

6 day War

Israeli neighbors move their troops to the borders. Israeli attacks Egyptians, crushes their airforce, takes over Sinai Peninsula, takes over Syrian land, and takes administration of Palestinian territories.

From this point on US becomes string ally and sends Israel billions of dollars every year.

Yom Kippur (October) War

Arab countries try to sneak attack on Israel on Israeli holidays. They look successful at first. The other Arab countries cut the oil to whoever supports Israel (This resulted with huge lines for gas in the US and some European countries). Israel ends up winning cuz they got plot armor.

He was Egyptian leader who recognized Israel in exchange of the Sinai peninsula. The Islamic Jihads killed him

Israel invades Lebanon

The PLO launched attacks on Israel and hid in Lebanon. Israel invaded Lebanon with the support of USA who sent “peace keeping troops”. Now the Lebanese really explode as they send suicide bombers to American troops.

1st Intifada

Palestinians form massive resistance through boycotts, strikes, and protests. The Israeli kills all the protesters in order to discourage them. Over 1000 Palestinians killed.

1st Oslo Accord (steps towards peace)

Peace talks where the US is involved as a mediator. Palestine agrees to recognize Israel in exchange of a stop to occupation. As a result Palestinians get one whole year of independence.

Itzhak Rabin Assassinated

He is the Israeli leader that was working towards the Oslo accords. After his death the Oslo accords were never really finished so it all goes back to status quo.

2nd Intifada

Israeli prime minister Sharon visits important holy site for muslims and Jews, Temple Mount. Palestinians fear this act means this mofo will take down the Muslim temple to rebuild the ancient Jewish temple. Huge uprisings ensue and suicide bombers explode. Sharon airstrikes the Palestinian lands, and also takes more of their lands. He also builds a wall on the west bank which also cut into a lot of the west bank to favor the illegal Israeli settlements
