Seven Cities of Gold

1984, a strategy 2d game where you get commissioned by the Spanish royalty to explore the new world. You can either trade, convert, or conquer Native Americans. The map of the game was so large, the creators invented a new streaming system to load it. There is no set “win”, although you get feedback from the king. It is understood that peaceful is the best way.

Sid Meier’s Pirates!

1987, set in the Caribbean seas during 1560-1660. You can chose what time (affects your gameplay). You act as a pirate or a pirateer for Spain, France, Dutch, or English. As you play, the levels get harder, and you will retire and get your score based on your fame and you get a job in your future life. Most notable features is how random events and changes are actually random and vary during each playthrough. It is more based on your fantasy of pirates than the real thing.

2020, Set in the first Mongol of Japan. It is called “Assassin’s Creed, but in feudal Japan”. You play Jin Saki, a samurai, who is waging guerilla warfare in an open world game against Mongols. Notably, Samurais actually prefer using a bow rather than a sword. While many characters are fictional, they carry the spirit and traits of actual live characters.

1781-1871, he first made the difference engine, but it was never completed due to its high expenses and intricate parts. Bababbage ended up making an analystical engine, that was more general. He is known as the father of the computer.
