Quartering Act

an act passed by the British that allowed British troops to live in the homes of the colonists

Sugar Act

law passed by the British Parliament setting taxes on molasses and sugar imported by the colonies

Boston Massacre

incident in 1770 in which British troops fired on and killed American colonists

Boston Tea Party

1773, protest against increased tea prices in which colonists dumped British tea into Boston harbor

Intolerable Acts

series of laws passed in 1774 to punish Boston for the Tea Party
