What is a repeated measures design?
one group repeating task
ALL P TAKE PART IN ALL CONDITION
what is independant measures design
2 groups do the same condition (task)
p allocated to 2 groups where each group represents on experimental condition
What are matched pairs design?
2 groups are mathced on certain variables
pairs of p are matched on some variables that may affect the dv. then one member of the pair is assigned to condition a then the other to b.
what are the negatives of repeated measures
order effect-repeating 2 task could create boredom and fatigue.
p more liley to work out the aim
what are the positives of repeated measures
fewer p needed
p varibale controlled
pperfomanace may improve
what are the positives of using independant measures
order effect are not a prblem
what are the negatives of using independant measures
less economical
more time consuming
the p are not the same
what are the positives and negatives for mathced pairs
p only take part in single condition so order effect and demand characteristics are less of problem.
p can not always be matched directly
time consuming and expensive
