Historicism

A method for interpreting prophecy that relies on actual historical events. Historicists believe that the Bible reveals itself throughout the entire course of history. Most reformers were historicists.

Preterism

A prophetic interpretation method introduced by Alcazar that taught that all prophecy concerning the anti-Christ was fulfilled in the past.

Futurism

A prophetic interpretation method introduced by Ribera that taught that all the prophecy regarding the anti-Christ will happen in the future.

Deism

The belief that God created the universe and then set it to run until it dies. In Deism, God is like a watchmaker. Deism is skeptical of Christianity, forgiveness, and miracles/supernatural events.

Miller’s Bible study method

Start at Genesis 1:1 and read only as fast as you can understand. Do not move on until you understand. He also used Cruden’s Bible Concordance to help him compare clear scripture with unclear scripture.
