Generalized Anxiety Disorder
Persistent and excessive worry most days of the week for 6 months AND 3 or more physical symptoms Peds: only 1 physical symptom required
Panic Disorder
At least 2 unexpected panic attacks followed by at least 1 month of worry and avoidance
Agoraphobia
fear/anxiety about 2 or more situations for 6+ months
Social Anxiety Disorder & Specific Phobias
Symptoms for 6+ months Peds: symptoms must occur in peer settings and around adults
Acute Stress Disorder
9 total symptoms from any category that appears in the first month after trauma occurs and symptoms last between 3 days and 1 month
PTSD
1 intrusion symptom, 1 avoidance symptom, 2 arousal symptoms, 2 negative moods symptoms that last more than 1 month Peds: 1 intrusion symptom, 1 arousal symptom, 1 avoidance OR negative mood for more than 1 month
Adjustment Disorder
Symptoms develop within 3 months of identifiable stressor, symptoms are out of proportion AND/OR impairment in other areas of functioning that resolve within 6 months of disappearance of the stressor
Prolonged Grief Disorder
Persistent, daily symptoms for at least 1 month, occurring at least 12 months after death of a loved one Peds: same but 6 months after death of a loved one
Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD)
At least 4 specific symptoms present for at least 6 months Children <5 years old: symptoms present on most days for 6 months Children >5 years old: symptoms present at least once per week for 6 months
Conduct Disorder
At least 3 specific symptoms present in the last 12 months, with at least 1 present in the last 6 months
Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder
Symptoms 3 or more times per week, persistently irritable and angry, for at least 12 months in at least two of three settings, onset before age of 10 but not before age 6
Intermittent Explosive Disorder
Patient is 6 years or older, agression that does not result in damage 2x per week for 3 months OR aggression that does result in damage 3x in 12 months
Major Depressive Disorder
Depressed mood or loss of interest/pleasure plus 5 other symptoms for 2 or more weeks with no episodes of manic or hypomanic episodes.
Persistent Depressive Disorder (Dysthymic Disorder)
2 years or more of depressed mood for most of the day, more days than not, plus at least two other symptoms. During the 2 year period, the patient does not have symptom free periods that last longer than 2 months.
Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder
5 symptoms total including 1 or more of the following core mood symptoms that occur during the luteal phase.
Seasonal Affective Disorder
Patient meets criteria for a mood disorder that has a seasonal pattern. In the last 2 years, onset and offset occurs during a characteristic time each year with no nonseasonal episodes.
Manic Episode
1 week or more (less if hospitalized) of persistently elevated, expansive, or irritable mood and increased energy/activity plus 3 or more symptoms (4 or more if only symptom is irritability). This causes marked impairment of functioning OR hospitalization.
Hypomanic Episode
4 days or more of persistently elevated, expansive, or irritable mood and increased energy/activity plus plus 3 or more symptoms (4 or more if only symptom is irritability). Episode is not severe enough to cause marked impairment in functioning.
Bipolar Disorder I
Patient presents with a manic episode at any time.
Bipolar Disorder II
Major depressive episodes alternating with hypomanic episodes if the patient has never had a manic episode.
Cycothymis Disorder
At least 2 consecutive years of milder elevations and depressions in mood that do not meet the criteria for other diagnoses. Symptomatic at least 50% of the time and has not been without symptoms for more than 2 months.
Paranoid Personality Disorder
Distrust and suspicion of others as evidenced by at least 4 symptoms.
Schizoid Personality Disorder
Social detachment and restriction of emotional expression as evidenced by at least 4 symptoms.
Schizotypal Personality Disorder
Pervasive pattern of social and interpersonal deficits as evidenced by at least 5 symptoms.
Borderline Personality Disorder
Pervasive pattern of instability as evidenced by at least 5 symptoms.
Histrionic Personality Disorder
Excessive emotionality and attention seeking as evidenced by at least 5 symptoms.
Narcissistic Personality Disorder
Pervasive pattern of grandiosity, need for admiration, and lack of empathy as evidenced by at least 5 symptoms.
Antisocial Personality Disorder
Pervasive pattern of disregard for and violation of the rights of others occurring since age 15, as indicated by 3 or more symptoms, at least 18 years old, and evidence of conduct disorder prior to age 15.
Avoidant Personality Disorder
Pervasive pattern of social inhibition, feelings of inadequacy, and hypersensitivity to negative evaluation, present in a variety of contexts as indicated by four or more symptoms.
Dependent Personality Disorder
Pervasive and excessive need to be taken care of that leads to submissive and clinging behavior and fears of separation, as indicated by five or more symptoms.
Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder
Pervasive pattern of preoccupation with orderliness, perfectionism, and mental/interpersonal control at the expense of flexibility openness, and efficiency as indicated by four or more symptoms.
Dissociative Identity Disorder
Disruption of identity by 2 or more distinct personality states with recurrent gaps in recall of events and personal information
Delusional Disorder
1 delusion for more than 1 month and the patient is still functional.
Brief Psychotic Disorder
1 or more symptoms of psychosis that lasts for less than 1 month and the symptoms resolve within 1 month.
Schizophrenia
2 or more psychotic symptoms for at least 6 months with at least 1 positive symptom and significant impairment in functioning.
Schizophreniform Disorder
2 or more psychotic symptoms for a period of 1-6 months with at least 1 positive symptom and significant impairment in functioning.
Schizoaffective Disorder
Psychosis symptoms AND symptoms meeting criteria for MDD or bipolar disorder and the patient has psychotic symptoms for at least 2 weeks without the mood disorder.
Schizotypal Personality Disorder
Pervaise pattern of social and interpersonal deficits marked by at least 5 symptoms.
