Anteflexed uterus
Bending of the fundus towards the abdominal wall, often coming in contact with the cervix.
Retroverted uterus
Tipping of the entire uterus toward the sacrum.
Dextroflexed uterus
Uterine body flexed to the right.
Levoflexed uterus
Uterine body flexed to the left.
Congenital uterine anomalies
Anomalies resulting from fusion anomalies of the Mullerian ducts; rare, affecting less than 5 percent of women.
Agenesis of the uterus
Failure of an organ or structure to grow during embryologic development.
Bicornuate uterus
Uterus defined by prominent indentation of the uterine fundus, dividing it into right and left horns.
Unicornuate uterus
Uterus with only one horn due to failure of one Mullerian duct to elongate.
Septate uterus
Failure of median septum reabsorption resulting in a uterine septum.
Didelphys uterus
Complete failure of fusion of the Mullerian ducts, resulting in two hemiuteri.
Hysterosalpingogram (HSG)
An X-ray technique to evaluate the fallopian tubes for patency and abnormalities.
Sonohysterography
A procedure that uses saline infused through a catheter to distend the uterine cavity while being examined transvaginally.
