Neural Plasticity
Continuous short term changes in efficiency/strength of neuron connections to long term changes in organization & number of connections among neurons.
Plasticity
Ability of structure to show changes.
Short-term habituation
Learning to ignore something harmless, where sensory neurons initially send a strong signal to motor neurons, but lots of repetition eventually results in a less strong signal.
Long-term habituation
Loss of connections between nerves.
Long-term sensitization
An increased response to a stimulus with more long-term neural connections (e.g., hot stove).
Short term change (Neural modifiability)
Synaptic efficiency.
Long term change (Neural modifiability)
Synaptic connections.
