Cell (Multicellular)
Specialized to carry out specific functions ex muscle cells
Tissue
Group of cells that are similar in function ex skin
Organ
Tissues that organized into larger structures ex. Heart
Organ systems
Different organs organized into a system. Ex digestive system
Organisms
An individual animal, plant or single cell life form
Nutrients
provides organisms with what they need to grow. 1 of 4 things needed for live
ATP
Adenosine triphosphate, the primary energy currency powers daily functions
Autotrophs
producers, plants and certain bacteria
Heteratrophs
Consumers such as carnivores and omnivores and herbivores
Homeostasis
Being able to regulate your temperature ex shivering in the cold
Multicellular
Organisms made of many cells and are complex such as plants and animals
Prokaryotes
Simple Unicellular Organisms, always bacteria and has no membrane bound organelles or nucleus
Eukaryotes
Complex organisms can be unicellular or multicellular. ( Most living things are eukaryotes)
Neuron aka Nerve Cell
A very long a thin cell that sends info to other parts of the body
Red Blood Cells
Carries oxygen throughout the body and is shaped like a flat disk
Sperm Cell
Fertilizes egg cells and tail for swimming through the body and head shape for entering egg cells
Cell Differentiation
A result of Gene Expression, process in which genes are turned on and off resulting in making proteins
Stem cells
Blank Cell that can become any cell in your body, scientists are working to use it to cure diseases
