Point - What is it?
Where the client is experiencing discomfort, pain, tightness or any other somatic sensation of where a memory or body narrative draws attention.
Point - How do you find it?
Be clear on the origin (pain, discomfort etc)
Counterpoint - What is it?
The diagonal opposite of the point (origin)
Counterpoint - How do you find it?
Cross the quadrant & spiral line
Referral Pain - Visceral
Originates from your internal organs
Referral Pain - Somatic
Originates from the other tissues of your body (fascia, muscle, joint)
Referral Pain - Neuropathic
Originates from the nerves (ex: Nerve impingement)
Balance Point - What is it?
A point that stabilizes and reconnects left and right hemispheres (creates coherence and connection)
Balance Point - How do you find it?
Find a middle connection/area between point and counterpoint
Coherence
A connection between both hemispheres of the brain and the heart
Balance point choices
A position along the midline, directly in between the point and counterpoint
Set Position - What is it?
The client’s chosen start position prior to mirroring and point/counterpoint work (client can choose how they would like to lay down)
Set Position - When would you go back to this position?
At the end (after moving to opposite position ex: Supine > Prone > Supine)
Action - How does the body need to process?
Either acknowledge, experience or rewire
What do you need to conduct a Point/Counterpoint Session?
•A massage table or yoga mat with blankets and bolsters
•A warm, peaceful atmosphere to conduct your session
•Rapport with your client (cannot be session #1)
•Intake paperwork
