Ratio
Is a comparison between two numbers or quantities.
Proportion
Is the equality between two ratios.
Fundamental Law of Proportion
The product of the means is equal to the product of the extremes.
Similar Figures
These are figures that have exactly the same shape but not necessarily have the same size. The symbol used to denote similarity is ~
Corresponding angles
Are pair of matching angles that are in the same spot in two different shapes.
Corresponding sides
are pair of matching sides that are in the same spot in two different shapes.
AA Similarity Theorem
If two angles of a triangle are congruent to two angles of another triangle, then the triangles are similar.
SAS Similarity Theorem
If an angle of one triangle is congruent to an angle of another triangle and the sides including those angles are proportional, then the triangles are similar.
SSS Similarity Theorem
If the three pairs of corresponding sides of two triangles are proportional, then the two triangles are similar.
Scale Factor
Is the amount of enlargement or reduction needed to get a similar figure from the other. This is the ratio of the dimension of an object in its dilated image to its actual size.
