History

The study of the past such as major events, key people, inventions & society and how they affect the way people live today.

Primary source

A primary source is information that was created at the time as an event or by a person directly involved in the event. E.g. Diaries

Secondary source

  A secondary source is information from somewhere else or by a person not directly involved in the event.

Bias

When someone favours one person over another or disfavours them

Homo Sapiens

 means 'wise humans', the species all modern belong to.

Archelogist

An expert who is trained in how to assess historical evidence and how to interpret

Out of Africa theory

The most common accepted scientific theory about how homo sapiens developed and migrated out of Africa approx. 100,000 years ago

Chronology

 record of events that in the order they took place.

Artefact

An object made or altered by people e.g., tools
