What did william Sheldon do?
He used body measurement techniques to connect body types with personality and outlined three basic body types and he called these ‘somatotypes’
What are the three somatotypes?
Endomorphic (fat and soft) , ectomorphic (thin and fragile) , mesomorphic (muscular and hard) more likely to be a criminal. Tend to be aggressive and adventurous. Sheldon found that many convicts were mesomorphic
How did Sheldon come to these findings?
He examined photographs showing the front, side and back views of 4000 scantily clad men and compare them to a sample of college students. He found that the delinquents had a higher average mesomorphic rating than the college students
