Not mere ‘head knowledge’ of abstract truths, but a deep, personal knowledge of Jesus Christ as my Lord and my God.
The Will
Doing
Doing (The Will)
A commitment to obey God’s will through witnessing and loving service
The Heart
Entrusting
Entrusting (The Heart)
Beyond believing and doing, faith is entrusting oneself entirely into God’s hands.
The Divine Invitation
God addresses man as friends and moves among them
The Human Echo
Faith is the complete submission of intellect and will to God. With his whole being, man gives his assent to God the revealer, the obedience of faith.
Adequate response to The Divine Invitation
The Human Echo
Trinitarian Reality
The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit
The Father
The Creator who demands our deepest trust and highest faith
The Son
God who became man (Jesus). He is the only one who can fully reveal God to us through His words, actions, and life
The Holy Spirit
The Illuminator. Opens our minds and hearts to recognize Jesus personally. No one can say ‘Jesus is Lord’ except through his power
Characteristics of Christian Faith
Inculturated, A Grace, A Human Act, Total and Absolute, Trinitarian, Loving and Missionary, Informed and Communitarian.
Essence vs Existence
Our identity must be visible in the character we build and the choices we make each day.
Essence
The Ordinary Student, doing regu'lar things to be expected at school. (e.g. Attending classes, wearing the uniform and ID)
Existence
The Legazpi Thomasian, upholding values rooted in Christian Faith (eg Living with honesty, justice, and love; developing a mind that constantly seeks the truth)
Dominican Root: Faith realized through Action
Inward Contemplation, Outward Action
Vita Veritatis et Amoris ex Gratitudine
A Life of Truth and Love out of Gratitude
Paradox of Christian Faith
A polarizing set of ideas in faith that go against each other.
Certain, yet Obscure
It is our surest foundation, yet we walkby faith, not by scientific proof.
Free, yet Obliging
God never forces us, but unconditional love naturally demands a response.
Reasonable, yet Beyond Reason
It makes logical sense, but requires divine grace to comprehend.
A Gift, yet Our Doing
God freely gives the grace, but we must actively listen and cooperate.
Personal, yet Ecclesial
It is an individual choice, but nourished and lived out within a community.
An Act, yet A Process
It starts with a single decision, but takes a lifetime to mature.
