Planimetric Map
A map looking down at an angle on the surface.
Oblique Angle Map
A map providing a different point of view to give a sense of what the environment looks like.
Map
A design that communicates any aspect of a real or theoretical location beyond our immediate comprehension by preserving spatial arrangements and simplifying detail.
GIS (Geographic Information Systems)
A digital means of combining layers of spatial and non-spatial data to analyze and visualize data about the world, and understand relationships between different aspects of it.
Vector Data
GIS data type representing points, lines, or polygons.
Raster Data
GIS data type producing a grid of equally sized cells, each cell can be given a numerical value and has a location attached to it.
Nominal Data
Data that distinguishes one entry from another (e.g., ID, name, address).
Geometry Data
Data that allows an object to be drawn in the correct position (i.e., vector coordinates).
Ordinal Data
Ranked data (e.g., rankings).
Continuous Data
Data representing a range (e.g., population or temperature).
Metadata
Data about data; includes information such as accuracy, creation date, creator, projection, data source, and copyright information.
