Past Subjunctive -ar verb endings

The endings are $-ara$, $-aras$, $-ara$, $-áramos$, $-arais$, $-aran$.

Past Subjunctive -er and -ir verb endings

The endings are $-iera$, $-ieras$, $-iera$, $-iéramos$, $-ierais$, $-ieran$.

Present Subjunctive of Ser

The forms are sea, seas, sea, seamos, seáis, and sean.

Present Subjunctive of Estar

The forms are esté, estés, esté, estemos, estéis, and estén.

Past Imperfect Subjunctive of Ser

The forms are fuera, fueras, fuera, fuéramos, fuerais, and fueran.

Past Imperfect Subjunctive of Estar

The forms are estuviera, estuvieras, estuviera, estuviéramos, estuvierais, and estuvieran.

Condition for Past Subjunctive Activation

Any phrase must be in the past simple or past imperfect in the main clause to activate the past subjunctive in the subordinate clause.

Imperfect Subjunctive Usage

Used for emotions, wishes, doubt, or hypothetical situations in a past context.

Present Subjunctive Usage

Used for emotions, wishes, or doubt in a present or future context.

Present Perfect Subjunctive (Haber)

Formed by using haya, hayas, haya, hayamos, hayáis, or hayan followed by a past participle (e.g., -hablado, -comido, -vivido).

Past Perfect Subjunctive (Haber)

Formed by using hubiera, hubieras, hubiera, hubiéramos, hubierais, or hubieran followed by a past participle (e.g., -hablado, -comido, -vivido).

Irregular Verbs in Past Subjunctive

Includes verbs such as dar, decir, estar, hacer, ir, ser, poder, poner, saber, tener, and venir.

Stem-changing -ir verbs in Past Subjunctive
